3. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How often engine oil needed to be drained?
Drain intervals depend on vehicle type, driving conditions, and lubricant specification. Fully synthetic DRIVURA oils typically support extended drain intervals up to 15,000–20,000 km under normal driving conditions, while mineral oils require shorter intervals around 5,000–7,500 km. Always consult your OEM owner's manual for specific drain recommendations.
Can we use same engine oil for both petrol and diesel engines?
Only if the oil carries dual API or ACEA certifications (such as API SP/SN and ACEA A3/B4 or C3). DRIVURA offers multi-fleet formulations specifically engineered to protect both modern petrol engines and light-duty diesel passenger vehicles. Heavy-duty commercial diesel engines require dedicated high-ash soot handling oils (such as API CK-4).
What does SAE 5W30 means?
SAE 5W-30 specifies a multi-grade viscosity rating defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers. The '5W' (Winter) indicates low-temperature fluidity for fast oil circulation during cold engine starts, minimizing startup wear. The '30' represents operating viscosity at 100°C, ensuring a strong protective fluid film under normal engine operating temperatures.
What is API SP?
API SP is the current flagship gasoline service category established by the American Petroleum Institute. It is designed to provide comprehensive protection against Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) in modern turbocharged direct-injection (TGDI) engines, while offering enhanced wear protection for timing chains, superior oxidation stability, and sludge prevention.
What is the difference between CI-4 and CK-4?
API CK-4 is designed for modern 2017+ heavy-duty diesel engines equipped with advanced exhaust aftertreatment systems (DPF and SCR). It offers significantly higher oxidation resistance, shear stability, and aeration control compared to older API CI-4 specifications, while maintaining full backward compatibility with older diesel fleets.
